Deed of the Editorial Committee

This is a proposal for electing a group of Liminal Archive site users most trusted by everyone else to put their heads together and come up with actionable ideas to address community issues.

“I VOTED” STICKER LEVEL

All Liminal Archives site members have the right to vote

Prior to the election, a one month period allowing for debate and discussion on the issues facing the Liminal Archives community will take place.

After the discussion, anyone who is a member of the Liminal Archives committee may run for a seat on the Committee after declaring their candidacy.

Voters can select a number of the available candidates equal to the number of seats and whoever has the most votes wins a seat, until each seat is filled. In the event of any ties, Staff would appoint someone from the entire pool of declared candidates.

Following their election, members of the Committee would sit for a term of three months, beginning immediately after all results are final.

At the conclusion of a Committee’s term all seats are open to be contested by new and incumbent candidates.

QUALITY ASSURANCE LEVEL

The minimum possible number of seats available on the Editorial Committee is three.

No Liminal Archives Staff may serve on the Committee, similarly nobody on the Committee may be a part of staff to prevent conflicts of interest and accountability.

Seats may be added by the unanimous vote of a sitting Committee. Staff may also add seats to the Committee as they see fit by majority decision.

If nobody runs for a seat in two consecutive election cycles than that seat will be deleted to a minimum of three seats.

CALL OF DUTY LEVEL

The Committee exists to make actionable suggestions.

Staff are under no obligation to follow these recommendations but must publicly respond with their response to the recommendation(s).

The Committee can be dissolved by Staff at any time as long as they set a date for the next election no sooner than one month from the time of the dissolution.

If two election cycles occur without any committee recommendations being followed, than all active Committee members are barred from seeking re-election to allow for new members to attempt to make different recommendations.

If this does not produce actionable results Staff have the option to unilaterally dissolve the Committee in its entirety without setting a date for a new election indefinitely.

Any site member may propose a vote of no confidence in the #public staff channel and if they get two more site members to assent to this than a vote in #community-vote will take place. If the current committee does not have the confidence of the community than it will be dissolved and a snap election will occur.

This Committee Deed once accepted can have content alterations only by a majority vote of the Committee with the assent of a majority on Staff.
