Description
Brain-men cannot be described because they are not real, but if they were real, a description of them would read like this:
Entity 54, perhaps colloquially known as Brain-men could be a species native to the backrooms. When manifested, they might be described as possessing 7-12 pale tentacles, connected to a large central head structure, made of bone, with two cavities for large, completely black eyes.
Brain-men could lack any mouth, teeth or throat. They might have not been documented producing any audible noise. Brain-men's heads might be perfectly spherical and hollow.
Behaviors
Brain-men do not behave like anything because they are not real, however if their behavior had to be described, it would most likely be like the following.
Brain-men may act with extreme intelligence. They might have even been observed numerous times accessing information regarding themselves within the archives. Despite this, however, they may have only been able to change information specifically regarding their existence, either adding prefaces to articles regarding them to state that they are real, or altering specific words to invert the meaning of statements regarding their authenticity.
It would be because of this that describing the behavior of Brain-men may present unique difficulties, as a full understanding of them, including their unreality is required to avoid danger.
Brain-men are said to have only one anomalous property, that is, if someone with a conscious mind has a single fully genuine thought that Brain-men are real, they are infected with a deadly info virus.
First signs of infection are said to include.
- Intense Paranoia showing degradation of the Pre-Frontal Cortex
- Manual Breathing demonstrating the Brain-stem's loss of control as the info virus infects it.
- Manual Blinking for the same reason
- Increased heart rate showing the sub-conscious' activation of the fight or flight response
- Shortness of breath for the same reason
- Sweaty palms for the same reason
- Sudden Itchiness showing the info virus beginning to destroy the infected's skin cells.
Theoretically, if you have experienced any of the above while reading this article, you are most likely already infected by the Brain-men info virus.
It could be possible that 25 minutes after initial infection, if the target is alone and unobserved, the first Brain-men will begin to manifest around them. Once the info virus has completely immobilized the victim they will typically begin dismembering the target, starting with their smaller appendages, including fingers nails and toenails, before moving to hands and feet, to forearms and cnemis, then to the arms and legs, before finally decapitating the victim.
Victims could appear to be fully conscious during the entire process of dismemberment.
If the death is investigated by someone un-infected by the Brain-men's info virus, it might appear the person died from sudden asphyxiation.
Biology
Brain-men lack biology, as they are not real. If they were real, their biological makeup would be best described the following way.
Brain-men might have been observed using 7-12 pale tentacles to navigate. These tentacles may have
been shown to possess enough strength to rend flesh and bone, while also being precise and careful enough to manipulate precision equipment such as keyboards and computers.
These tentacles are possibly connected to the Brain-men's skull. The Brain-men's skull could be similarly pale white, with two large black, eye-like extremities. Despite these eyes, Brain-men may seem to only be aware of those infected by their info virus.
Brain-men's flesh might be pliable, while their skull might be smooth and cold.
Brain-men could phase through entities un-infected by their info virus. They may be seemingly only able to interact with and be seen by infected individuals.
Discovery
Brain-men were not discovered, rather, they were invented as a work of fiction. A plausible story for their discovery, however would be something like the following.
Brain-men were possibly first discovered in ancient texts regarding an entity known as the 'Unknowable demon.' It could be believed that, included in these texts were pictographs depicting the violent death's of anyone who understood them. These texts might have been hidden away in secret compartments of Level 1, later rediscovered by a group of wanderers and brought to the Archive's attention.
The information possibly was recorded into the archives. All Wanderers within the group might have died, and the archivist responsible for the article was possibly infected, and as of writing, would have about five minutes left in his life.
Survival Guide
Brain-men do not need to be survived, as they are not real. If one were writing a fictional novel including Brain-men as a fictional antagonist, however, the protagonist may do the following to survive.
Once one is infected by the Brain-men's info virus, if such a thing even exists, there is nothing they can do to stop their deaths. The only way to avoid being killed by the Brain-men is to have unshakable certainty that the contents of this article are a work of fiction.
